Dr. Ananta Adhikari was born in Mountain region and grew up in plane region of Nepal, a small landlock country in south-east Asia. He received Undergraduate degree from Tribhuvan University, Nepal.  He earned master’s degree in Physics in 2003 and PhD in Nanoscale Science and Engineering from State University of New York, Albany in 2007. After completion of PhD, Dr. Adhikari worked as a postdoctoral fellow in different Universities such as University of Texas Rio-Grande Valley (2007-2009) and University of Houston (2012-2014). During these postdoctoral research program, Dr. Adhikari mainly focused on Modification of nanomaterial and nanocomposites using high and low energy ion irradiation.

He also had different teaching opportunities of working such as a visiting assistant professor and an instructor in different institutes.

Dr. Adhikari joined Department of Physics, State University of New York, Potsdam in Fall 2019 as an assistant Professor of Physics. Since then, he has been teaching primarily different introductory physics and undergraduate senior level physics courses along with research involving undergraduate students.

Dr. Adhikari’s research interest is on Nanomaterials and Polymer Nanocomposites. His current research focus is on the modification of soft material Polymer nanocomposites based on irradiation primarily for their application in a biomedicine such as biosensors and bioscaffolds.

His research goal is to provide the hands-on experience to our undergraduates on some of the prominent fields that are important in our modern society such as exploring the material behavior by manipulating defects in atomistic level and developing the light weight, strong, and multifunctional material device.
